♥ New Julianne Moore Movie Causes Controversy

A new movie in which blindness spreads through a town like a virus is causing controversy in the blind community.  Suzanne Collins explains it has to do with the way blind people are depicted in the film.

A new release called Blindness has just opened in theaters and its representation of blind people and the way they behave in the movie has the National Federation of the Blind protesting.

“For people to make money by saying blind people are incompetent and helpless and criminally depraved is outrageous to me,” said Chris Danielsen.

In the movie, the government believes the blindness is contagious, so they put all the newly blind in an asylum where social and moral standards deteriorate.

“The blind people are portrayed as not even being able to figure out how to get to the bathroom, so they relieve themselves on the floor.  Everything is filthy.  They can’t dress themselves so everyone’s wandering around naked,” Danielsen said.

Hi,
i can’t believe what i’ve just read !
Come on, guys, it’s only a movie ! Nobody’s despising blind people !

And do you guys really believe that someone becoming suddenly blind would not depend totally on somebody, at least at the beginning ???

I can’t believe it people are always trying to find something to complain about (talking about the movie…) !

BUT something i agree with… Blindness has such a creepy and freaky atmosfear ! Ark !
